The winning collaboration between Manifattura Falomo and Giada Andreutti!
We are excited to announce our collaboration with Giada Andreutti, a bobsledder from Friuli Venezia Giulia (north-east Italy) born in 1995, who embodies the values of commitment, determination, and passion that we share every day.
With the Winter Olympics in Cortina fast approaching, Giada trains with the same care and attention she devotes to her rest: even when traveling, she never gives up the comfort of our topper, which has become a valuable ally in her recovery.
We met up with her and she revealed how rest is essential for tackling every challenge and reaching new goals!
From the track to the bedroom: how important is recovery? If you had to choose, which is more valuable: an extra hour of sleep or an extra hour of training?
Over the years, I have learned that recovery and rest are an integral part of training. Until a few years ago, I would have said that an hour of training was more important, but now, while recognizing the value of both, I would say the opposite: an extra hour of sleep.
The life of an athlete involves constant travel and changing beds. When you are away from home, how do you get a good night’s sleep and how do you manage to get optimal rest despite the unfamiliar environment?
Over the years, I have often had back problems caused by unsuitable mattresses in various hotels. Since last year, however, I have been able to use Manifattura Falomo mattress toppers and take them with me on trips throughout Europe. This has improved the quality of my rest and made me feel like every bed is my own.
You had the brilliant idea of using Manifattura Falomo memory foam to pad the inside of your bob. In addition to cushioning impacts, how does this technical solution from the world of sleep affect your concentration and comfort during a high-speed descent?
When we go downhill in the bobsled, it is essential to have a comfortable and stable position in order to concentrate on driving. Thanks to Memory Manifattura Falomo, not only do my shoulders remain firmly in place, allowing me greater precision, but my brakes—my companions in the two-man bobsled—also have better protection from the impacts that regularly occur during a descent on a rigid carbon and fiberglass sled.
Let’s imagine that pre-race tension is always very high. How do you manage it and prevent it from affecting the quality of your rest? What is your evening routine or “wind-down ritual” to ensure that sleep is your best ally and not an obstacle before the competition?
I like to drink hot tea or herbal tea before going to bed, especially after a long day in the cold on the slopes. Usually, the days are so intense that I fall asleep right away. But when my thoughts overcome my tiredness, I try to clear my mind by focusing on my breathing and how each part of my body rests on the mattress.
Quality that makes the difference
Quality sleep can improve your days and make you feel your best. We are delighted to support Giada during the upcoming Winter Olympics: may every achievement be the result of commitment, passion, and… perfect rest!
